| Why Winterize Your Yard? The Elements of Winterization COMPOSTING, hey there’s a reason folks are getting GREEN Fall & early Winter are ideal times to create a dedicated compost area. We will design and build an efficient compost area that is appropriately positioned and sized for your yard and, if necessary, we will teach you how and why to use it. As the thaw sets in and Spring comes around, you’ll have a ready source of nutrients that are so necessary for your Colorado lawn and garden. WINTER FERTILIZATION, its going to be a long winter As lawns become dormant in the late fall, we blend together the correct ratio of goodness in our late season fertilizer. We time its application to bring the maximum benefit. Get a head start on Spring! Your lawn can be greener and healthier than ever before. DEEP CLEAN OF YARD AND LANDSCAPE, go in clean Don’t go into the cold season without giving your external home environment a deep clean. Your lawn has accumulated a layer of waste that needs to be cleaned out. Non-grass areas of your landscape may have a new layer of growth on top of weed barrier, creating an independent (and unwanted) environment. Your gutters? We’ll clean them out too. IRRIGATION SYSTEM CARE, frozen and burst pipes are not your friends Whether you use traditional hoses and attachments or some variety of a sprinkler system (or a combination), your irrigation system needs attention. Water needs to be drained and blown out; water and air pressure systems leading to irrigation pipes need to be disconnected, and valves need to be properly positioned. Do you have water features in your yard? We’ll cover that base. GARDEN / TREES / SHRUBS, what we do depends on what you have If you have a garden, it requires year-end attention to get the most of out next year’s yield. What trees, shrubs and bushes are in the landscape? Do we need to spread some mulch at tree bases or prune back seasonal growth? Do you want to protect anything from eventual snowfall? We’ll be able to tell you what we think and suggest the optimal treatment plan for each to keep undue winter stress to a minimum.
